Scottish Asians (say yo to Tigerstyle, Clyde Asia Radio and Lord Iqbal Singh) are a different breed, man. (unfortunately, the bad news is that a huge chunk of Scottish Asian marriages are said to be forced, and of course the usual suspects deny the label Scottish Asian altogether) Anyway, Sainsbury's accounced today that for the first time ever they have sold more haggis to the English this month than the Scots. A spokesman said "Burns Night has been taken up by the entire nation, and people of all nationalities love taking part. The success of our hot and spicy haggis means the British love of Indian food is even having an effect on this traditional dish. It may not be long before we see our first tandoori haggis." ah ha ha ha ha ha...

Anyway, on a totally separate tangent, I saw a screening of The Rock Star & the Mullahs last night, with the director and lead man of Junoon there to answer questions. The music wasn't half bad, although I'd have to say if an American band was singing similar religious lyrics in English, I'd totally gag. Amazing what a little language barrier can do. Kinda like when an Asian promoter in Chicago told me that he could never play something like "Shiva Theme Tune" because it was too religious. Huh? I guess my little gori brain didn't consider the "Om Shiva" sample as particularly divisive for the brown folk.
