I only heard about this fairly recently and it looks really interesting. Its a new programme called The Suffrage and the Singh on BBC1 London Inside Out on Monday 12th September at 7.30pm. It investigates the story of Sophia Dalip's(Duleep) Singh's (she was God-daughter to Queen Victoria and daughter of Maharaja Dalip Singh(or Duleep) and the last emperor of the Sikhs and owner of the famous Kohinoor diamond)involvement in the suffragette movement. Yes that's right - there was an Indian suffragette. Personally Ive always been really interested in Maharaja Dalip Singh and have made countless projects and pieces of art and read so many books based on his life so I'm really looking foward to seeing this! Furthermore, as a modern day young indian woman this whole movement seems symbolic to grasp why we live in the conditons we do today and I think its fantastic the BBC have commisioned it-its also presented by Gurinda Chadha so you've got to see it!
