The sets recorded from last week's Mahatma's Revenge have been bounced down and will be up in a few days. I think these are gonna be grrrreat. :)

I'd like to offer regrets that BBC 2 didn't get to show at least half of the crew from last night's feature on Desi DNA. Credit goes to:

Sunil Parekh, DJ Soni, Prash Mistry (they did get a millisecond of screen time).

Martin James, Sheila Tequila not to mention Kunal Anand and Laura Taflinger got interviewed but didn't get to the final cut. Seb Ahmad, Pavan Mukhi and Phil Inje Chang couldn't be there the day of the shoot.

At least some of the music got a good airing.

So the BBC spent a day shooting at Shiva Soundsystem HQ. Tonight on Desi DNA we'll see the results.

As most of you already know, im at the end of writing whats been a hectic thesis. It now seems fairly normal to get into bed in the morning, at 6am .. or to not bother sleeping at all. Well a wise man just emailed me these words as the clock counts down 23hrs to go, 2 more chapters and a conclution. How will it all end?

Clothes that bite back. Dee could have done with one of these in India, to keep da layddeeez at bay, know what I mean?

Here at Shiva Soundsystem HQ we have the pleasure of sharing good relationships with people in the Media.

TV presenters, news readers and other media types are friends of ours so it took me by suprise when fan sites on them pop up on the web. This is one I came across that is faintly scary. But as we don't know Nina Hossain, it's ok.

I'm Curious...

...where's the best place to discover new electronic music on the internet? I used to use Audiogalaxy a long time ago and the way that you could discover new music on that was fantastic, through a sort of if you like that then you might like this and this is the most popular in this category and so on. I quite like the feel of Audiojelly. hmmm

Conversation last night between gori and midwestern Indian bhangra promoter, whose eyes were riveted to my tits. Or rather, Amitabh, which he couldn't get over. ;)

"So your boyfriend is Pakistani, right?"
"Bangladeshi."
"So he's dark."
(pause and strange look from me) "Yeah, I guess so."
"Sorry, sorry! I'm really drunk. I usually don't say shit like that."
"I think that sort of thing matters more to you guys than the white people that hump you."
"Yeah, I know, Americans don't care."
(Indian accent) "But no, you're right, he's not fair and lovely." ;)

Most of the night was spent with him madly googling and kazaa-ing for a song from Nerm's and my Bobby Friction interview, which he finally discovered was on a Rhythm Dick Bollocks compilation. But he claims he's over the bhangra scene and wants to move on. We can only hope, eh? ;) I gave him some UK Asian breakbeat stuff ages ago, but he declared it all unoriginal and stolen from Bollywood. Hmmm.

Being as accident prone as I am, I guess that it’s only a matter of time before there is a video of me on this site….

How the fuck can you get massive cultural references so wrong? Islam and Hinduism have existed side by side but are totally different.

The name Vimanarama is actually two words, Vimana as in ancient Hindu flying machine and Rama as in reincarnation of Hindu god Vishnu. Nothing to do with Islam but everything to do with Ali the son of a Pakistani corner shop keeper??? Come again!

A ship sank in high seas and the following people got stranded on a beautiful deserted island in the middle of nowhere:

A. 2 Italian men and 1 Italian woman
B. 2 French men and 1 French woman

E. 2 Polish men and 1 Polish woman

One month later, on various parts of the island, the following was observed:

A. One Italian man killed the other Italian man for the Italian woman.

B. The two French men and the French woman are living happily together in a menage a trois.

C. The two German men have a strict weekly schedule of when they alternate with the German woman.

D. The two Greek men are sleeping together, and the Greek woman is cooking & cleaning for them.

E. The two Polish men took a long look at the endless ocean and a long look at the Polish woman, and they started swimming.

F. The two Mexican men are talking to all the other men on the island trying to sell them the Mexican woman.

G. The two Irish men began by dividing up their part of the island into Northern & Southern parts, and by setting up a distillery. They do not remember the Irish woman because it gets sort of foggy after the first few litres of coconut whiskey but at least the English are not getting any.

H. The two American men are contemplating suicide. The American woman is bitching about her body being her own, the true nature of feminism, how she can do everything that they can do, about the necessity of fulfilment, the equal division of the household chores, how her last boyfriend respected her opinion and treated her much better, and how her relationship with her mother is improving.

What happened to the Indians?!?

The 2 Indian men are still waiting for someone to introduce them to the Indian woman!!

I don't know if this is a marketing ploy but this was the first introduction to new artist, Deeyah. Not too sure about her vibe but no doubt she'll be everywhere soon. So you might as well get used to it.

I can't belive I haven't mentioned this before, but for one of the best comic books and corresponding movie, you could do a lot worse than Hellboy.

I think when musicians are no longer with us we forget the power and standard they set so many years ago. I’m most definitely not talking about Elvis, cuz simply the Beatles were so much better. But im rambling on about Uncle Bob. Who as an artist totally rules the reggae genre as an immortal. The only other artist I can think of who dominates and explodes a genre into the horizon of bliss is Miles with all his funked up jazz.

So I'm sitting in the Dublin airport waiting for my flight to Chicago (~cry~)(only was able to see the Book of Kells and a lame viking museum yesterday) and in this country full of freckles and ginger hair, guess who's fixing all the computers at this internet cafe? Yep, a brown man. Wonder what the Irish Asian culture is like here? Is there such a thing? Some dudes doing combinations of Irish jigs and bhangra moves at clubs? RiverGangesDance or something? ;)
