So while my friend *ahem* was surfing the web, he came across British Asian hardcore porn actress Anjali, and was suprised to discover (not very good) audio adverts in both
English and Gujerati.

WARNING - don't play these if your easily offended. Not that I imagine you are.

Dee & I did a private gig at the Victoria & Albert Museum and this was our dressing room. And I'm not joking.

Not that I'm showing off... I still just can't belive it.

From a Turbanhead mailshot:

Cartoonist Nina Paley is slowly turning the narrative of Ramayana (a Hindu Sanskrit epic) into a series of remarkable animations set to a soundtrack of scratchy old 78s. The result is Sita Sings the Blues, a "self-animated, unfunded, destined-to-drive-me-to- the-poorhouse feature-in-progress."

Nina describes the latest chapter, Hanuman Finds Sita: "Gags, gimmicks, AND narrative - hundreds of pages of text crammed into 3 minutes. Plus it contains all 4 main characters: Sita, Rama, Hanuman and Ravana, with extra added bonus demons ... People already familiar with the Ramayana will probably enjoy these musical bits more, but I'm trying to make the story understandable to anyone."

If you're anxiously awaiting the cold to break and summer to start, don't worry, our girl PJ makes a great coat...
Finally surfacing... It's been one of the most exhausting, surreal and fun weekends in a long time. The Psycadelic Trance party we did room 2 for was off the hook. Regardless of the seated tripped out hippies and normal folk, they enjoyed the vibes of Supersonic Buddha that we transported in there.

No pictures or video but we got some audio. There so much of it that we're not sure what to do. Much love to Soldgie, Nu-Trix, Elio, Mos-kow and Kid Kurry.

Now, where's that damn glowstick?

Is Asian music getting through? Apparently it is according to this article from an Australian newspaper advertising Joe Ransom's tour which quotes him playing Asian Underground: Resident Advisor.

I have no idea why I thought this would be relevant to this blog or to Shiva Soundsystem matters, but I found it really interesting.

Summer/Spring vibes - dove tastes like chicken

Did y'all catch the "India Plans Citizenship Test" story yesterday in the Eastern Eye, about how foreigners wanting to settle in India will now have to learn Hindi, and know dates in Indian history? I was really fascinated, and it went on about NRIs and others needing to assimilate and understand Indian culture, and then ended with this:

"The report says taking the citizenship test will enable immigrants to learn about everyday life in India, including the latest Bollywood film stars, where to get the best masala dosas and how to chew paan effectively. A new white paper proposing specific test questions will be released today, April 1."
