So I'm watching "The Return Of Courtney Love" on More4 and I'm wondering what a character in the novel I'm writing would make of it (she's musical performer living in London in her late 20's). This is what she said:

"what a lying sack of shit that bitch is. I can't believe she's parading her much loved late husband's clothes in front of the world. 'I wrote a suicide note after Kurt' is just her "me too" bullshit. Was this really a revealing insight? Was it my ass. Talk about marketing dollars. I’ve just been watching at best, Courtney's most recent desperate grab at fame, at worst, (the conspiracy nuts will love this) the epitome of Courtney Love's attempt at an alibi to Kurt's murder. Then the bitch sees fit to sell off a quarter of her "beloved" late-husbands songs to pay for her fuck-ups and no doubt a load more drugs (after she wrangled it away from the people that actually helped create them). But aside from all of that, her lips are fucking horrible."

and then I thought that that was really harsh, but seeing as she's a character - she can say what she wants. Although personally, I really think the program was trite. The poppy portrayal of the recording of her new album looked like something that wouldn't be allowed out of an editing suite at E4, as did her soap-opera like attempts at emotion. Actually, I take that back. They would have been right at home on Hollyoaks.

As September draws to a close, I decided to give you all a pictoral representation of this Summer. (Really, I'm trying to avoid doing a mountain of paperwork so I decided downloaded loads of pics off my phone instead):

The Word was a massive influence on me. Tonight on Channel 4 they're airing "Whatever". In the first 5 minutes I had high hopes (I loved the foul mouthed, badly made nature of "The Word") but what the fuck was this turd of a show on my screen? Who the fuck was presenting it? And most of all who made it??

Then the realisation slowly creeped in... Shit. Maybe I'm just too old...

How's this for diaspora -- a brown American living in India catches last week's Bombay performance of our dirty little British Asian secret, the D'Archetypes, and blogs about it! Photos and a video clip for your viewing pleasure. But none of their constant flesh exposure as they change costumes.

Just to get the African/Canadian brown contingent in, here's my quick edit of the recent Indian Electronica club night. While there is no nakedness in this one either, there is a bit of Nerm violating the poor organizer, Abdul Smooth.

So I'm at home alone on a Sat night, waiting on the couch with my laptop for my putative hubby's sweatshop designers to send me a program to proofread of the Chili Film Festival I'm doing next weekend (everyone come visit! it's FREE!) (and what's worse, the Nikki Bedi show is interviewing me about it on Tuesday! The universe is punishing me for secretly using her in my Shah Rukh documentary, I'm sure), and I suddenly remembered Nerm's show was on. I turned my TV to channel 867 and liked the track that was on, so visited the BBCAN site to see if he had a playlist up, only to be greeted by this photo on the main page banner instructing me to listen live. Er, I felt a little creeped out. Luckily, I eventually discerned that the show was recorded last week at the Indian Electronica fest and the man himself is likely getting pissed somewhere in Shoreditch as I type. ;)

At any rate, it's nice to hear Bandish Projekt's set while not drunk with a camera in my hand running up and down the stairs...
